La Forclaz is located on the left bank of the « Grande-Eau » River in the fold of the Chamossaire foothills. Local clubs are very active all year round, taking great pride in animating this tiny corner of the country whose village charm has worked its wonders on many a holiday resident.
La Forclaz has retained its authentic charm and free-spirited heritage of times gone by. This delightful village is an architectural treasure : a chalet from 1618, numerous granaries and even a wooden chapel bear witness to traditional alpine archtiecture.
The village hosts events throughout the year, the most famous being the annual cattle parade that always attracts a huge crowd. On « Market Thursdays » in summer, visitors come to buy local produce including fresh bread, still piping hot from the ancient bread oven.
La Forclaz is also a sporting village. In winter there’s downhill and cross-country skiing as well as snowshoeing and ski-touring. In summer there are numerous walking trails, one of which takes you all the way to Chavonnes Lake. Tennis and petanque courts are also on offer as well as a climbing wall.
