Le SĂ©pey - Cergnat

Description

Le SĂ©pey is the capital of the Ormont-Dessous commune. The centrally located council headquarters is justly proud of its new look in wood and contemporary bright colours and is home to the administration offices, a social services branch office and the library as well as the council chamber.

In the upper part of the village the beautiful old chalets and local granaries date from the 17th and 18th centuries. In the lower village, a recent joint venture with a cooperative society saw the council build 3 family housing complexes, a harmonious construction that sits well in the local environment. Le Sépey’s appeal to locals and guests alike is to be found in its commercial outlets which include a grocery, post office, bakery and tearoom, boutiques, hairdressers, independant professionals and a health and welfare centre. The popular hotel-restaurant « Le Cerf », with its flower-bedecked terrace, tempts visitors with no less than 22 different kinds of rösti ! The newly modernised train station serves as a departure point for the ski pistes with post buses and trains taking downhill and cross-country skiers to the resorts of Les Mosses, les Diablerets, La Forclaz and Leysin. In summer, Le Sépey offers beautiful walks and it’s from here that you can admire two historic bridges spanning two valleys.
