Old Leysin Museum

What was life like back in the 18th Century ? The Museum of Old Leysin tells the story and retraces history of life in a chalet. No need to step into a time machine, you can lose yourselves in the various museum rooms to imagine life in another era.

In the Museum of Old Leysin, passionate historians have recreated a traditional 18th century alpine chalet. In a series of tiny rooms, discover more than a thousand objects from daily life used by Leysin locals. Furniture, kitchen equipment, games but so much more besides – posters and press cuttings featuring articles on the resort right up to the present day.

Both children and adults can easily imagine what life used to be like. Some things have clearly changed over the years and others no longer exist. It can be quite puzzling to try and understand or even guess at what certain items used to be used for ! It’s a journey through time in one of the oldest chalets in the village.
