In Leysin, at the home of the Perreten family, goats have taken the place of cows. From goats’ milk to its transformation into cheese and yoghurt it’s just a matter of a few metres distance. Such is the guarantee of quality and proximity for some truly local produce.
On Leysin’s Crettaz plateau, the Perreten family take special care of the goats who in turn reward them handsomely. The animals roam freely, munching the sweet grass and mountain flowers of the Vaud Alps to their hearts’ content. And the goats’ milk just keeps on flowing !
For families, a visit to the goat farm is such an enjoyable outing. In their natural environment the goats are quite happy to put on a show for the visitors. Each one has a name and they adore being stroked.
Goats’ milk is treated right there on the farm. From milk to cheese, there’s only a short way to go. Visitors can watch the ingenious process of cheesemaking after which they’ll get the opportunity to taste and to buy produce in the farm shop.
