In Leysin more than a 100 climbing routes have been re-equipped in areas that lie between the village and the summits of both the tour d’Aï and the Tour de Mayen. Whatever your level, you will find your dream site here. For beginners it will be the Chamois quarry site ; for the more experienced the Tour d’Aï rockface beckons.
Most people walk or mountain bike to get to the sites. In summer and autumn the Berneuse cable car considerably cuts down hiking time and also means you can concentrate all your energy on making the climbs !
There’s an amazing choice of equipped sites to choose from including the Planpraz rock face, the Berneuse, Plans and Diamant sites not forgetting the area around Lake Segray. One of the most iconic spots has to be the Sphinx. One of the classic climbs in this region, it starts out on a small wall category 6a+ before getting up to the crack cut out of a tiny roof, rated as a 6c ascent.
