Across its signature vineyards with an amazing view over the surrounding mountains, Aigle is an ideal departure point for a walk in the valley. Pathways and country trails interlace on the hillsides and on the banks of the River Rhône offering an enormous choice of enjoyable walks for all fitness levels.
Walking destinations are numerous but the vineyard trail is one of the most popular. It weaves its way through the region’s wineries enjoying wonderful sunshine along the way. Every so often an information panel imparts interesting insights into the winemaker’s daily work routine and the unique environment that enhances the culture of the vines.
Aigle also has 2 special themed walks in the town : « The Walk of the Fountains » and « Of Streets and Men ». Thanks to a small explanatory leaflet complete with map and detailed information, walkers can enjoy a fun and informative trip through the different districts involved.
Located at the foot of the Vaud Alps, Aigle is also an ideal departure point to get to the ski resorts of Leysin and Les Mosses. The ascent is naturally steep, in some places sheer, but public transport in the shape of mountain trains make light work of the journey.
