Like a drawing in space, «Being & Having» deploys its linear architecture for only volume. Its metal rods trace in the air the lines and contours of a modest refuge with limited furniture. This strict minimum of comfort of life going hand in hand with the minimum of material used to represent it, refers to the essential and questions what fills and nourishes our lives. Or the question of the right balance between vital need and superfluous possession. Reducing life to the essential, to survival, questions conversely whether to exist is enough to live, either if a life without poetry or spirituality of any kind would not lose its meaning. «What would the world be without music?» seems to ask the guitar leaning against the wall. To this, the geologist and naturalist Theodore Monod gives a wise answer: «Better to leave this life empty-handed but full of heart»
