This walk takes you through the vineyard, climbing in the forest to the Belvedere of Plantour with a view of the city. The return by the path on Aigle is reserved for good walkers. In wet weather, the terrain is slippery!
Depart from the Aigle CFF station and follow the tracks of the Aigle-Leysin train which crosses the city. When you reach the North Hotel, head towards the tourist office and the market square. Then continue towards the cloister district and the castle of Aigle.
From the castle, an imposing historic building dating from the 12th century which overlooks the vineyard, climb towards Verschiez, first between the vine walls, then through the forest.
Before the entrance sign for the hamlet of Verschiez, take a path on the right that rises through the vineyards. Continue straight to finally reach the Belvedere, after a short winding descent.
Return: for good walkers, take the path directly to the left after leaving the Plantour pavilion. It winds through the forest for about a kilometer with sometimes steep descents. At the end of the wood, join the road on the left; it will take you to the town of Aigle.
If you are not comfortable on the forest trails, return by the same route as on the outward journey.
